A VMUG Session to be remembered!

I am equally excited to publish this blog post as I would be referring to a VMware community that helped me to lay the foundation, In other words, gave me an opportunity to present my technical skillset on a public forum! “VMUG Pune” Yes !! you have read this perfectly fine. However, the main agenda is to talk about the vLeaderConnect webcast that was held recently. The special guest speaker to this event was none other than Duncan Epping. I would really be surprised to know you have not heard about this individual If you are associated with VMware technology

vCenter Server 6.7 fails to start the service with the message “Error to get value at pos: 1, ctype: 4 for SQL “VPX_HCI_CONFIG_INFO.LOCKDOWN_MODE”

It gives me a immense pleasure to inform you that I have renewed my vExpert title for third time in a row. I thank the VMware community to keep me motivated through out this tenure. Its been a while I have not posted any article. So I decided to write one . We received an alert on one of the customers environment stating vCenter service has stopped responding. Reboot did not fix it too and that was certainly a matter of concern for system administrators! As a part of troubleshooting step it is always good practice to start having look

Reconfiguring Array manager under SRM errors out with “storage.fault.CommandFailed.summary”

Hello Folks, Last week I was working on a SRA upgrade for one of the customer. Upgrade was basically from NETAPP 2.1 P1 to 4.0 P1. I did encounter two issues during this process. First was during installation of the new SRA as it was failing with the below error message. Initially I assumed the older SRA uninstall process was not completed properly due to which we encountered this issue. I did reboot the server post uninstall but no luck. Later I realized that UAC was enabled on this server and that was blocking to attempt the installation further. Steps

Site Recovery Manager service fails with “Win32 exception: Access Violation” message in the vmware-dr.log

Hi All, I am happy to announce that I have managed to bag the vExpert title for two consecutive years. Feels great & motivated to blog and contribute to VMware community. Now talking about today’s article, It was tricky but an interesting one. My customer came up with a scenario where there were no recent changes done in the environment but SRM service in the primary site stopped running indefinitely. As I always believe in vmware-dr.log ,I went ahead and validated the backtrace being generated. To my surprise it was the first time I encountered such a back trace with

Site Recovery Manager fails to start the service with the error message “The host certificate chain is incomplete”

Whenever you think you understand a product to a certain extent the product proves you wrong. So I was in a similar situation where a customer reported that SRM service was failing to start at the recovery site. As my regular practice which I always do, went through the DR logs to validate the error backtrace. I managed to find a interesting backtrace. Those who still do not like to memorize the path, you can find it below. Upgrading vSphere Replication to 6.1.2.1 build 7026558 from previous version fails or gets hung indefinitely

This blog post has been written on a public demand as we have been receiving lots of such cases in context to upgrade failure while upgrading the vsphere replication to 6.1.2.1 build 7026558.   As of now VMware does not have any official document stating that vSphere replication should be previously running on 6.1.2 in order to perform a successful upgrade to 6.1.2.1. Yes that is true, I did not have any success rate with upgrading the VR from 6.1.x to 6.1.2.1 apart from 6.1.2 which is the only version compatible to be upgraded to 6.1.2.1.   When you try
